The average home here in the U.S. is around 2,600 square feet. While most might feel like this is a decent size home, there are those that find that it is just too big. Small living has seen an increase among those that want a simpler life with less time spent caring for their home and more time for family, friends, and hobbies. While some might balk at the thought of living in a home that is smaller than 1000 square feet, some have gone even further and choose to live in homes that are just around a hundred square feet.

A tiny home can be built for a fraction of the cost of an average size home, but it does come with quite a few challenges beyond the cramped space.

For example, these homes usually employ alternative methods for disposing of wastewater similar to an RV. They also might need a power source such as solar panels, and heating and cooling could be tricky if the home isn’t properly insulated.
